Our history

One family’s storybecame a community.

Every family that has a child with FASD has its own story. CAMP began when one family’s search for support became a determination to create it.

01

2001

Sharon and Nicholas Tassone’s family adopted Alex from Russia at age two. Experiencing the challenges he faced at school, socially, and at home—and seeing the lack of resources for people with FASD—they began imagining a summer camp.

02

2015

CAMP — A FASD Community was founded with a board that brought together pediatric, psychology, camp, and nonprofit experience.

03

2016

CAMP hosted the first summer camp in the nation specializing in serving children with FASD.

04

2017

CAMP became accredited by the American Camp Association.

05

2024

CAMP hosted the largest summer program in its history, welcoming nearly 35 campers and more than 40 staff members.
